Running at 640 pages, being printed in a larger format than the standard paperback its about two inches thick and it will definatey make your hand sore, wrist, fingers and all, because you won’t be able to put it down.
Lucy Sullivan joins three of her work colleagues to visit a psychic and when the predictions for her colleagues come true, rumours spread around the office that she’s geting married. The book follows Lucy who has her eye out for her man to be. With four contenders, it could be gorgeous, unreliable Gus, handsome Chuck, her friend Daniel, the world’s biggest flirt, or even cute Jed, the new guy at work.
Following Lucy Sullivan makes for a very interesting read with the added bonus of sprinklings of issues with her two female roommates, dealing with her overexcited colleagues at work and her father who drinks just a little too much and her mother who never fails to engage in an argument.
As this book made her a bestselling author so I tried to pay extra attention to the details and I noticed that there is lots and lots of dialogue, more than an average novel. I liked this because it made for a lot of action and each character had their own distinct voice and personality. Written only in first person and seeing it only from the point of view of Lucy, at certain points I started to not like her because she was “not seeing the light” or the “obvious” if you will. But that’s what makes her interesting, she doesn’t see certain flaws in others (i.e. the men in her life). The story is full of conflict which keeps the reader hooked. I don’t think its the most unique idea I’ve heard for a story, but the way Marian Keyes tells it is fun and its not until the end you find out the answer to the big questions: will she get married, and if so to who?).
So does she find her future husband? You will have to read to find out.

I like all of Marian Keyes’ books I’ve read so far. Dialogue proved to be important for this book, which made me feel better about my first book which so far has lots of dialogue. or at least I think it does.
