Read Time:1 Minute, 7 Second

So on the writing front, I didn’t do so hot this week. I missed a sprint or two on the #row80 hashtag. I think I got about 2600 words this week. Only half my weekly goal.

While the WIP fell on the lower end of the scale, I’ve been doing better on my other goals. I’ve written a few blog posts in advance and I finished a craft book this week and wrote the review to be posted on Friday. In other good news, the blogging series on Writing in Different Genres is live! If you missed the line up of amazing guests, including lots of ROWers, check it out here. The series will kick off on Feb. 1 (this Wednesday).

#teamsprinty has been at it again with more fun chat and opening up a debate on the merits of one character over another in Lord of the Rings and Pirates of the Caribbean, its #teamelf vs. #teampirate. Yes, the merits of the character that’s where I’ve leave it because we analyze characters as part of research for our writing….riiiight? If you want to check out the humor and weigh the options, pop over to Lena Corazon’s blog.

This week I will try to balance out working on my WIP, reading, blogging and social media a little better.

How’s everyone else doing?

  1. I can’t wait for your Writing in Different Genres series! This is going to be fun!
And I chose TeamElf AND TeamPirate =P There’s no way to chose one or another lol
    Have a nice week!

  2. I’m looking forward to the genre series. So many of them blur the lines, so I’ll be really interested to see what others say.

And 2600 words is damned good. Great week:)

  3. I know that word count isn’t up to your target but it is still a great word count.

Really looking forward to your review and hopefully will see you in some sprints if I get home from wor in time 🙂 Have a great week Nicole

  4. Can’t wait to read your genre series and the post for Friday on the book. Woot woot. It sounds like although you didn’t make your writing goal, you still did GREAT and you got a lot of other things off your plate to ensure you have a good week this coming week. Sometimes we gotta take time out to get some of the other business stuff taken care of. I say GREAT week Nicole! Woot woot!

  5. You’ve still been productive – don’t be too hard on yourself!! I’m also excited by your blog series. It sounds like a great line up. Can’t wait!! Glad you got to check out the #teamelf vs #teamyohoho finally. That was such a funny day. I’m glad Lena put it down for us to remember! Have a great week, my dear! 🙂

  6. 2600 words is WAY more than 0 words, right? You did great considering all the other amazing things you accomplished. Don’t be so hard on yourself…this is why it usually takes writers a year to get a book out. It’s a whole lot more than sitting in front a computer writing whatever comes into your head. Hang in there, sweets!

  7. You wrote a lot more than I did this week. Even if it’s about half of your goal, it’s still 2600 that wouldn’t have been written if you didn’t sit down and do it. Good job.

  8. Ah, balance. I started to say I work hard to achieve balance, but my real problem is I work so hard and therefore never have much balance. Am I making any sense? I need to set amounts of times on projects and walk away. I’m not good at walking away.

But part of my problem is the scattered way my brain operates. I have so many ideas/projects up there that I end up flitting around and half doing things. Lots of projects started, few finished.

As you find balance and ways of achieving it, I sure hope you’ll share. CAN’T WAIT for your genre series!

  9. It looks like you’re kickin’ it to me! After all, if you slacked off a little on one goal, you overachieved on another. So it’s all wonderful progress. I just jumped into the #teamsprinty last week a couple of times, and I hope to be there again soon. Some fabulous writers! Have a great week, Nicole.
