Well the October 5th ROW80 Twitter party ROCKED! There was snacks and drinks, music and of course lots of dancing. There were so many funny tweets going around that was laughing out loud.

On the night of the Twitter party, I also stopped by on a networking event in Brussels. I met some Americans and man did it feel good to talk to them. I didn’t realize how much I censor myself around Europeans. I was able to make jokes and connect with the Americans in an instant. So I brought my happy-humorous-Canadian self to the Twitter party and ended the evening on a high note.

Of course, I didn’t get any writing towards my WIP on that night, or Friday, or Saturday because I was shopping and cooking and preparing for Thanksgiving. Canadian Thanksgiving is this weekend (well officially tomorrow), but everyone eats the big dinner on Sunday because it takes so long to cook, eat, nap, watch football and then recover from all the food.

So today I finally used the some time in the afternoon to write and I’m sitting at 4,000 words this week. Almost, there. Maybe another hour to get those last 1,000. On a positive note, I finished a great fiction book. Review coming soon. I also made my blogging goals with 4 posts this week.

What inspires me to write when I’m not in the “mood” to work, is reading books by my favorite authors and reading or watching interviews of them. Two of my favorite authors became authors “accidentally”. I mean, they both wrote a book without planning on becoming published and then it became a worldwide best seller. They make it sound like it doesn’t go through 30 zillion revisions. Then they both wrote tons of books afterwards. I wonder if those who study/learn how to write a novel can create a better book? The amount of time I spend reading craft books and blogs, I now notice a few “flaws” in each book that I read now. Things I wouldn’t notice before.Β I wonder if these bestselling authors studied some craft books if they could produce even better books? I also wonder why their editors don’t catch some of these “flaws”?

Whew! Anyways, after the partying, writing, reading and cooking, I’m looking forward to eating until I can’t eat no more and then having a little nap. Then its movie time because there’s no Canadian football to watch.

I'm sure the turkey can't be happy

So enjoy Thanksgiving (or Turkey Day as my Dad would say), and if you’re not Canadian, have some turkey and take a nap anyway and watch some football for me because I can’t.Β For the rest, enjoy the week #ROW80 style.

P.S. I have found a ROWsista. Check out Em’s check-in.

  1. Happy Thanksgiving, Nicole! Ours, as I’m sure you know, isn’t for another seven weeks, thank goodness. I’m not nearly ready for it! Have a wonderful day!

    1. Well your blog sure looks ready for the festive season. πŸ™‚ Thanks for the greetings. I know that your Thanksgiving is later. Don’t know how you can eat those big meals only one month apart. I know that I need the next 3 months to prepare for turkey round 2 at Christmas.

  2. Nicole,

So happy you’re getting some holiday time in. I still have a teensy bit of party hangover so let’s get you past the holiday and then we’ll get our picture competition in high gear. πŸ™‚

    What do you think?

    1. Hi Jenny.

I did manage some holiday time. I even baked which was a real treat. Yeah, the party sure took a toll on me as well. Please get some well-deserved rest and then the photo competition will resume. Have a relaxing Sunday. πŸ™‚

  3. All I have taken away from this post is turkey. You are eating turkey! (I stamp my feet like a spoilt 2 yr old). IT’S NOT FAIR!! I want turkey too!

We brits don’t get to have thanksgiving as you probably know so we have to wait for Christmas for turkey. Yes i know you can get it anytime, but I have had it drummed into me since day one that turkey is for Christmas and Easter. As a family, apparently eating turkey at easter is bizarre, but we don’t care – we even have christmas pud to top it off!

Enjoy thanksgiving – I am so unbelievably jealous lol!

    1. I actually didn’t eat turkey. I had roasted chicken instead because the turkey was waaaay too big for just two people.

I think we also have turkey on Easter…now I don’t remember. How bad is that.

      1. We have a rule also that chicken is not to be eaten in the month leading up to ‘turkey day’ just in case it spoils it lol! Hope the chicken was tasty!

  4. Happy Thanksgiving to you!
And skipping a few days because of it is totally understandable and advisable!
But I’m glad you’re on track!
    Keep it up =)

PS: congrats on finding your ROWsista!

  5. Yay, I’m so happy to hear that you got in some cooking, baking, AND writing, on top of that amazing Twitter party we had on Wednesday. Also, congrats on getting a ROWsista!

    Have a lovely week, Nicole!

  6. Love what you said about reading inspiring you to write. The next time I’m in a writing funk, I’m going to pull out a good read and think of you!

    1. I think its the best way to get be saying: “that’s it, I gotta go write because I love books so much and I want to write something as good and entertaining as this.” Read on Tia. πŸ™‚
